Internet searches are an important part of operating systems and this is known to all large companies. It is a form of implementation and loyalty that does not go unnoticed, so it is a business of millions.
An announced change now led Apple to trade Bing for Google as a search engine in its operating systems. Siri and Spotlight now have results from the largest search giant, of course, Google.
It was with the arrival of the MacOS High Sierra that Apple took advantage to proceed with this background change. From now on whenever they question Siri or search within iOS or Spotlight the results presented will be obtained from Google.
The change in Apple systems
The reasons for this change, according to the tech giant Apple, relate to the need to have a consistent experience with what was already offered in Safari.
Here is what Apple stated “Switching to Google as a search engine for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience with the default in Safari. We have strong relationships with Google and Microsoft and are committed to delivering the best user experience possible”.
Despite being a profound change, Apple decided to keep the results of the image research delivered to Bing. Video search results are now Google’s responsibility through YouTube.
The business of search engines and Apple
Despite the justifications presented by the tech giant Apple, the most natural thing is that this change comes from the agreement between this company and Google, to remain as the search engine of choice in Apple’s operating systems.
It is estimated that Google will pay $3 billion to Apple to maintain its prominent role and that this business has brought some more improvements, as we can now see.
The search engine change has already been initiated by Apple and should be completed soon. From now on, all the results presented will already be from the tech giant Google’s search engine.
