Telegram 4.4 has just been announced and, judging by the number of new features included, it is not a minor update, but quite the opposite. Time after knowing that WhatsApp will add the real-time location to its application, Telegram is ahead of the app owned by Facebook and already offers this possibility, in addition to other improvements that we review below.
As the title says, the latest version of this app comes with a location system that will hate the most suspicious of your privacy. But also in the app now we can make use of a new music player that lets you share songs with our contacts and the ability to use the application for iOS and Android in new languages.
Real-time location
The most important addition to Telegram’s long-running mobile application is live locations, or in other words, the ability to share live locations. This feature allows users to transmit their current location to any real-time chat. The new feature is useful when you’re on the move and you want to send someone to your exact location but as many will already imagine, it can lead to more than one partner discussion.
The new option is available in the Location option that allows you to select “Share my location with your contacts” and choosing whom to send the information to. It is worth mentioning that Live Location can be shared in groups as well and that if the other members of the group also share their locations, we can see them in an interactive map that shows the location of all of them. In this way, Telegram is ahead of WhatsApp’s real-time locations.
New music player
But it’s not the only feature that comes before Telegram than WhatsApp since the messaging app also releases a new media player that is supposed to better support the playback of MP3s and other music files that Telegram users can send and receive.
Other improvements
Finally, Telegram people announced that their mobile application now has a new interpretation platform, meaning that it can be used in French, Indonesian, Malay, Russian and Ukrainian. With the addition of the new languages, Telegram supports 13 languages, but much more will soon arrive.
All changes to the Telegram update are now available on the versions for Android and iOS, so you can download the new app through the App Store and Google Play, respectively.
