The tech giant Google has decided to discontinue its paid content on the YouTube video platform because it wants to dedicate all its effort to improve and reinforce other tools for the monetization of content, so it will discontinue paid content from December 1, 2017.
Paid channel subscriptions and paid content offers will no longer be available on YouTube
Undoubtedly, the biggest reference regarding the viewing of videos on the Internet is YouTube, the service of the tech giant Google for this purpose, and through which you can find all kinds of content created by people, especially for their subscribers.
In the streaming platform, there is also a modality of paid channels or offers of paid content, which allow its subscribers the access to the content through a subscription under this modality.
But now, the tech giant Google wants to focus on other tools for content monetization, such as Super Chat, YouTube Network or the recently announced sponsorship mode, so that, from December 1st, YouTube will change the category of all paid videos to private, and subsequently suppressing all these channels.
Since this past Tuesday, creators can no longer produce new paid content, while viewers can no longer afford to subscribe to such channels. While, from 1st November, YouTube will stop charging for this type of subscriptions to its users, informing them with an email of such action.
On the other hand, as stated in the Service Help, from the date mentioned, all paid content will be marked as private automatically. If desired, these videos may be kept private or there will also be the possibility of making them public.
Finally, the individual videos that the viewers have purchased (not rented) will be accessible until December 1st, 2022, according to the conditions of purchase. Otherwise, such changes do not apply to YouTube Red Originals, Google Play Movies & TV, or live-for-pay events. So, what do you think about this discontinuation?
